Payroll Specialist

In Omaha office / national remote

We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our team!

Job Summary:

As a Payroll Specialist with Ventura MedStaff, you will process weekly payroll and maintain employee time records.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Payroll Specialist will assist the Payroll department with ensuring accuracy and timeliness. You will work collaboratively with a team of skilled professionals in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, demonstrating precision and expertise, to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • References timesheets and contracts for travelers on a weekly basis to ensure accurate payroll and billing.
  • Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, and other information.
  • Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions.
  • Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
  • Verify salary adjustments, garnishments, and retroactive pay for all employees.
  • Process voluntary and required deductions into the Payroll system.
  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed timely and accurately.
  • Maintains high level of accuracy, work ethic, and customer service to all employees.
  • Respond timely to employee inquiries on all payroll questions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software.
  • 10-key proficient.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities on tight deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a team of payroll professionals


Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; required.
  • Two years of payroll experience; required.
  • Healthcare Staffing industry experience; preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift 15 pounds at times.

Salary Range:
$25 – $27 per hour
