Beat the heat this summer with some of our summer safety tips!
.Be sun smart: It’s important during the summer to wear sunscreen when exposed to the sun. Not only that, but wearing light, loose-fitting clothing will help keep you cool. This is because light-colored clothes will reflect the heat! If you’re able to avoid going out in the sun, do so during the peak hours of the day, or 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
.Stay hydrated: While you should always prioritize drinking water, it’s even more important during the summer. This is because you are sweating and losing water more quickly. Even if you don’t feel thirsty, drink at least 8 cups of water a day, and avoid nonhydrating liquids that contain caffeine and alcohol.
.Watch for heat advisories: Keep an eye on weather alert services that will inform you when the temperatures reach a dangerous level. Heed their warning and stay inside if needed.
.Eat light: Avoid eating heavy foods that will weigh you down. Instead opt for light foods that are high in water content, like fruits and vegetables to help stay cool and hydrated.
